Walk With Wakey is a record breaker as Trinity Foundation smashes fundraising target
Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation has smashed its fundraising target from this year’s Walk With Wakey by raising £7,160 to provide vital funds for children's bed charity Zarach and the foundation.
The foundation set its biggest challenge yet as after previous journeys to Castleford's OneBore Stadium, a 75-strong team made the 13-mile journey to the AMT Headingley Stadium ahead of Wakefield Trinity's Betfred Super League clash away to Leeds Rhinos.
And their efforts and big support from the Wakefield community and beyond saw more than £7,000 collected – the largest ever amount raised through the annual fundraising event. This will be split between Zarach and the foundation.
The charity, founded in Leeds, have delivered over 17,000 beds to children in need since their inception.

It was founded in 2017 with the mission of ending child bed poverty, a tragedy which impacts around 900,000 children in the UK, including more than 6,000 alone in the Wakefield district.
The £3,580 raised for Zarach will help to provide beds to young people in Wakefield while the funds raised for the foundation will support the continued operations of the three inclusion teams – the PDRL, LDRL and Wheelchair sides.
Head of foundation at the Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation Luke Shale said: "I'd like to give a huge thank you to all the participants who took part in the walk to AMT Headingley Stadium, who showed an amazing spirit and togetherness over the half-marathon distance in our longest fundraising walk to date.
"My thanks also go to our committed foundation partners who supported the day and to the staff at Zarach, the foundation and Leeds Rhinos for making this event possible.
"Most importantly, I'd like to pay tribute to everyone that made a donation to Walk With Wakey, with your funds making a massive difference to people in the Wakefield community through the inspiring work done by both Zarach and the foundation."
Amy Green, Head of Communications at Zarach, added: "We're so grateful to Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation for co-fundraising with ourselves through their annual Walk With Wakey fundraiser.
"It was an amazing day, with so many people taking the time to raise funds for our causes.
"We're so grateful to Wakefield Trinity for shining a light on child bed poverty."
Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation would like to thank everyone that donated towards, participated in and supported this year's Walk With Wakey. They also give particular thanks to Gleeds, YPO, Novus Health, TGA Consulting Engineers and Wakefield Trinity X Dance Squad.
