Wildcats finalise deal for Bobbie Goulding Jr
The 19-year-old has been training with Wildcats for a number of weeks but has only just finalised the paperwork to see him become a Wakefield player for 2013.
“I’m made up to sign up for the first team at Wakefield. It didn’t go so well at Warrington but I’m really looking forward to getting my chance and proving myself at the highest level which is Super League,” he said.
“I had a couple of options, even from rugby union as well but my loyalties are with rugby league and I’ve wanted to play for Wakefield because when I was growing up my dad was here. I had a meeting with Richard (Agar) before I went on holiday at the end of last season and everything about the club seems dead positive and it’s on the up and I really can’t wait to get going.
Wakefield head coach Richard Agar said: “Bobbie is a very talented half-back who possesses terrific skill and a very astute kicking game. He’s a player that’s got lots of development in front of him, his pathway was blocked a little bit with the amount of quality players in front of him at Warrington but we feel he is very much a player for the future in the specialist position of a half.
“We can give him time to mature and develop as a player and one thing he has got is a terrific attitude to the game and he’s very level headed, fit and he’s made a very good first impression on us.
“There was a number of clubs interested in his services so we’re very, very pleased that he thinks Wakefield is the place where he can develop his game.”
