VIDEO: Stainless steel CABLE bracelet is new fashion craze
FORGET gold and silver...the latest fashion craze is this stainless steel CABLE bracelet made in Sheffield.
It's not even available yet but has already taken more than £20,000 in pre orders.
Bailey Of Sheffield, who are behind the product, are celebrating today after smashing their crowdfunding Kickstarter target of £15,000.
After three years of planning it means the luxury CABLE bracelet - with a set of unique beads, paying tribute to industry and the region, with music and even wearable tech options to follow - will now go into full production.
Supporters are still able to pre-order it at special Kickstarter discount prices by making pledges before the project deadline on Tuesday at www.kickstarter.com
The unisex bracelet, which will retail for around £180, with beads from £25, was invented, designed and tested in Sheffield with the help of both universities. It will be hand finished and assembled in the company's studio workshop at Portland Works, the birthplace of stainless steel.
They say it is hypoallergenic, has maximum corrosion resistance and durability, and will initially be available in seven colours - original stainless steel, matte gold, polished black, petrol, anthracite, matte black and rose gold.
Colour coated in a military grade PVD, technically harder than stainless steel, each bracelet will come with a 'more than a lifetime guarantee', so it can be handed down to future generations and will be refurbished for free during its life.
A pendant converter also allows the beads to be worn on a necklace.
It is all the brainchild of Scott Bailey and his partner Adele, who together are best known as owners of city centre gig venue, Plug.
“The world's toughest bracelet? We can confidently say that the CABLE bracelet is as tough as it is beautiful, " said Scott.
"We set out to make a bracelet that would be robust, durable and can be customised to your taste, unlike anything seen before, as highly designed, as it is durable and long lasting.
"We are currently developing and prototyping some impressive and playful kinetic bead designs and wearable tech options. In addition, we will also be announcing a range of curated sets of bracelets with beads.
"These collaborations with established fashion and product designers, music artists and high profile jewellers will showcase the bracelet in all its brilliance."
