Wakefield’s premier concert series will return next summer with an epic hometown show from one of the district’s most iconic bands.

Indie heroes The Cribs have been announced as the first headliner for Live at Tileyard North 2027 – marking their first Wakefield show in over a decade.

The Cribs have been announced as the first headliners for Live at Tileyard North 2027.

The band will return home for a special performance celebrating 20 years of their critically acclaimed album, ‘Men’s Needs, Women’s Needs, Whatever’.

Organised by Leeds-based promoter Futuresound, the inaugural concert series transformed Tileyard North into a high-capacity open-air venue earlier this year.

Thousands of people from across the country visited the city to watch the shows headlined by Sophie Ellis-Bextor, The Stranglers, The Fratellis and Ocean Colour Scene.

Now, The Cribs have been announced as the first act to headline the series when it returns in 2027.

Celebrating their milestone album’s 20th anniversary, the band will perform 'Men's Needs...' in full at the same site where the Jarman brothers originally wrote and rehearsed in the early 2000s.

Released in 2007, the album is widely regarded as The Cribs’ breakthrough record, with the single ‘Men’s Needs’ landing a top 20 hit.

Joining The Cribs in Wakefield will be cult Yorkshire art rock heroes ¡Forward, Russia!, who are celebrating 20 years of their inimitable debut album ‘Give Me A Wall’.

Toby Womack, from Futuresound Events said: “I am so pleased to be able to bring back our Live at Tileyard North Series for 2027.

"After such a warm reception in 2026, it’s encouraging to know we have Wakefield's stamp of approval to keep it going for years to come.

"We couldn’t think of a better way to launch our second edition than with The Cribs' first hometown show in over 10 years, this will be incredibly special!”

General sale for tickets opens at 10am on Friday, October 23.

The Wakefield Postcode pre-sale will allow early access to tickets for Wakefield residents, and will open 10am Wednesday, October 21.
