1. Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell
The historical fantasy mini series, shown in 2015, included scenes filmed in Wakefield at St Johns North, St Johns Square and South Parade.
2. The New Statesman
Comedian and actor Rik Mayall brought one of his most colourful creations to the streets of Wakefield back in the 1980s. In 1988 a house on St John’s Square, in Wakefield, was turned into Downing Street. The Georgian square was filled with crews and lit up to film Rik entering the Prime Minister’s home.
3. The Hairy Bikers
TV chefs the Hairy Bikers visited Wakefield Cathedral to film a programme in 2015.
