5. Emmerdale
The former Wakefield Crown Court, pictured, and Wakefield Town Hall were used for scenes in long-running Yorkshire soap Emmerdale.

Wakefield-born David Storey made his writing debut with the much-acclaimed novel This Sporting Life in 1960. It was based on his previous experience as a rugby league player for the former Leeds RLFC. Storey became internationally-recognised when the book was turned into a film three years later.It featured locations including Wakefield Trinity’s then Belle Vue stadium and Westgate in the city centre.
7. Tyrannosaur
Paddy Considine's Tyrannosaur, a painfully raw and emotional love story about a self-destructive man who finds the chance of redemption with a woman who works in a charity shop, was shot entirely in West Yorkshire at a range of locations including Cross Gates, Eccup, Harehills, Alwoodley, Leeds city centre and Wakefield.
8. The Damned United
Scenes from the film about Brian Clough's tenure at Leeds United were filmed in Wakefield.
