Prince Philip, husband of Queen Elizabeth II, passed away peacefully at Windsor Castle this morning, Buckingham Palace has announced. You can see the full statement here.
Prince Philip's last visit to Wakefield was in 2015, when he paid a visit to the police training facility at Carr Gate.
2. March 2005
In March 2005, the Queen and Prince Philip attended the Maundy Thursday service at Wakefield Cathedral. They were greeted by crowds of people and carried special seasonal bouquets known nosegays.
He was given a tour of the facilities, as well as shown police restraining techniques by serving officers.
