And now, Zachary has been brought to life by Specsavers in cartoon form as part of a space-themed adventure, The Cosmic Case of the Missing Specs.

Along with two other winning children Ava and Josh, Zachary helps friendly alien Flork find their way back to Jupiter. Flork has lost their specs in an Earth-bound crash landing.

Zachary said: “I’m so excited that I won the competition and get to star in a special adventure.

“I dressed as Mr Penguin for World Book Day because not many people know who he is and it’s a really exciting book.

“So now lots of people will get to hear about him!”

Vicky said: "Zachary just loves reading, he reads every night and in the last half term got through five books.

“I love anything that encourages this passion so I couldn’t resist entering Zachary in this competition.

“We were both very surprised but delighted to hear that he had won."

Ruth Cunliffe, store director at Specsavers in Pontefract said: “We were thrilled to see a youngster from our area included in the story.

“World Book Day truly brings to life the joy of reading, especially for young minds with vivid imaginations.

“At Specsavers, we recommend children get their eyes tested regularly from around three years old.

“Thankfully, serious vision problems during childhood are rare but early testing allows opticians to spot and treat any potential issues as soon as possible.

“So, the only thing your little ones need to worry about is having a blast on their latest book-based adventure!”
