Jubilee Way: Major Pontefract road closing for four weeks for resurfacing work

Motorists in Pontefract are advised to plan ahead as resurfacing work will close a major town centre route for several weeks.

Jubilee Way in Pontefract will be closed every day between 8pm and 6am from Monday, November 9 while roadworks are underway.

Council contractors are scheduled to carry out extensive road resurfacing and highway improvements, with a diversion in place to manage traffic.

The road is expected to reopen on November 21, but could be pushed back until November 30 depending on extended permit schedules.

Traffic will be diverted around the town via Southgate, Knottingley Road, Ferrybridge Road, Stranglands Lane, Sheepwalk Lane and Holywell Lane while the work takes place.

Drivers are advised to plan ahead and seek alternative routes to avoid potential delays.

Bus services operating through central Pontefract will also face detours.

Several key town centre stops along Front Street and Jubilee Way will be temporarily suspended for the duration of the works.

Passengers will need to use nearby permanent stands inside Pontefract Bus Station or designated temporary stops.
