Rate My Takeaway Kitchen: Celebrities flock to new Yorkshire food court run by top Wakefield Youtuber

A world-champion boxer, stars of the rugby league world and some of Yorkshire’s best influencers have helped to launch the first food hall by one of the UK’s top food reviewers, Rate My Takeaway.

World-champion boxer Callum Simpson joined Danny Malin, better known as Rate My Takeaway, to open the Youtube star’s first ever food hall in Yorkshire.

The viral social media sensation officially opened the new kitchen at the Packhorse Shopping Centre on September 13, with the aim to showcase some of the best takeaways across the region.

Danny, who has amassed millions of followers reviewing takeaways online, said: “I wanted to make a food court which becomes a destination in its own right.

“There was an opportunity at the Packhorse Shopping Centre which made it the ideal place to host independent takeaways."

The Rate My Takeaway kitchen is home to five permanent vendors and various rotational spaces for pop ups – which will change seasonly.

Danny, from Barnsley, who now lives near Wakefield, continued: “I’m chuffed to say we’ll have everything from desserts, pizzas and burgers to chicken.

"We’ve got trending treats, bubble tea, a licensed bar, meet and greets and a banging atmosphere.”

The kitchen’s permanent vendors include Leeds-based Pizza Pizza, Hooyah Burgers, Bobby’s Salt and Pepper, Birria Boyz and Wing-A-Ding.

Temporary vendors currently include AI Tea and Wagyu lookin’ At’, who are joining the kitchen for three months.

Danny added: “It’ll be nice to have some of the best takeaways all under one roof.

“The best thing about it is I get to champion the best takeaways in Yorkshire, and they’ve all been tried and tested and are solid 10s!”
