Test explosion planned at Ferrybidge Power Station

A test explosion is being planned at Ferrybridge Power Station this week in preparation for the next stage of demolition.

Residents may hear the blast at one of the remaining chimney stacks which is planned for Friday, July 10 at 3pm.

People do not need to take any safety measures during the test. Those living in the Pollards Fields area should have received letters warning of the explosion.

No date has been set for the removal of the remaining chimney stacks yet.

Thousands gathered to watch the previous two demolition days in July and then in October of last year, leaving just three of the eight towers standing.
