A sunny Friday afternoon has just got a whole lot better for four Wakefield families, after they scooped a massive £30,000 prize in the Postcode Lottery.

The subscription lottery awards prizes of between £10 and £1 million every day, as well as supporting charities across the UK.

This month, it is awarding a massive £30,000 a day on top of the usual £1,000 daily prize, with winning postcodes picked at random.

And today's prize was awarded to a postcode in Walton, Wakefield, where four players will each be awarded the prize.

The announcement was confirmed this afternoon by TV presenter Judie McCourt, who unveiled the winning ticket in a video on Twitter.

Congratulating the four winners, she confirmed that today's winning postcode was WF2 6TL.

It is the first time anyone in the district has scooped £1,000 or more since Saturday, July 4.
