How are we going to fit you all on stage?’ Shed Seven react to Chasing Rainbows singalong
More than 130 members of a social choir came together earlier this year to perform one of Yorkshire’s best-loved indie anthems.
Now their YouTube performance of Shed Seven’s Chasing Rainbows has been embraced by the band themselves.

Created by So Choir!, which meets weekly in Pontefract, Leeds and Selby, the footage captures the choir belting out the York band’s much-loved anthem in three-part harmony.
Since its release on Monday August 31, the video has already been watched more than 30,000 times online and shared hundreds of times by fans.
Within hours, the video had reached Shed Seven. The band picked it up and reposted it to their followers, saying it “sounds incredible” and adding: “think I’ve got something in my eyes… well done to everyone involved.”
Frontman Rick Witter also shared the video, adding: “This is amazing. Well done everyone involved. How are we going to fit you all on stage?….”
So Choir! founder and host Nic Slack said: “I was absolutely blown away. You make something like this because you love the song and want to create a brilliant experience for everyone involved, so when the band themselves actually see it, love it and start sharing it, that’s an awesome feeling.
The performance was filmed at a special one-off event at Selby Town Hall on January 10, 2026, bringing together regulars from across So Choir! and Café Choir, their friends and families, Shed Seven fans and people who simply spotted the event and decided to give it a go.

The three-part harmonies were shaped and rehearsed on the night before the whole room came together for the final filmed performance.
“Chasing Rainbows is one of those songs that means so much to so many people,” said Nic. “When that chorus hits, it just sweeps everyone along with it — you can feel this wave of pure euphoria surge through the whole crowd.”
More than 30 years into their career, Shed Seven are still hitting new heights. Recent albums A Matter of Time and Liquid Gold both reached No 1, while new single Stand Together is currently getting regular airplay on BBC Radio 2.
Founded in Yorkshire in 2016, So Choir! was built around a simple idea: put the people and the music first, and make singing together properly social — with a ton of laughs and absolutely no taking themselves too seriously.
Ten years on, regular So Choir! and Café Choir sessions bring people together across Yorkshire, alongside workplace choirs and one-off events.
And occasionally, 130 of them get together and make enough noise to attract the attention of Shed Seven.
