The man, who wished to remain anonymous, placed the £80 order on Friday July 31 from the Birstall Junction 27 branch alongside his workmates for their office lunch.
He claimed that he discovered the deep fried moth at the bottom of one of the five chip boxes the group had ordered.
Nando's has now apologised to the customer and said they 'regret any distress this event caused'.
The man supplied pictures of the moth he allegedly found in his meal to the Yorkshire Evening Post.
He said: "The Nando’s was from junction 27 at Birstall, it was a web order of around £80 for our office lunch on Friday so we went to collect around 12.30pm Friday dinner time.
"After eating the full meal the deep fried moth was found at the bottom of one of the chip boxes, we had around 5 boxes of chips between us."
The man contacted Nando's on social media and the company said they would investigate further.
After being approached by the Yorkshire Evening Post, Nando's said they are confident this was 'an isolated incident' and will do everything they can to 'make sure it does not happen again'.
A Nando’s spokesperson said: “We have sincerely apologised to [the man] for what happened, and regret any distress this event caused. We’ve reached out to [the man] so that our health and safety team can conduct a comprehensive review of the processes at this restaurant. We are confident that this was an isolated incident, and will do everything we can to make sure it does not happen again”.
