Police warn youngsters over dangers of entering derelict buildings
Police are urging young people and their parents to be aware of the dangers of entering abandoned buildings.
With some young people being tempted to enter empty or abandoned buildings in the district, what looks exciting could be dangerous.
The buildings could contain fragile roofs and floors, hidden shafts and basements, dangerous chemicals or asbestos, structural collapse risks and exposed electrical hazards.
West Yorkshire Police said: “Every year people are seriously injured after falling through roofs or from upper floors in disused buildings.

Many vacant sites are rmote or hidden from view, difficult for emergency services to access without mobile phone signal.
"Emergency services may not reach you quickly. A simple accident can quickly become a major emergency.
“If you're looking for adventure, abandoned buildings aren't worth the risk. Stay out. Stay safe.”
If you spot young people accessing a dangerous vacant building, you can report your concerns to the building owner, local council, or police where appropriate.
