Prince Harry to congratulate 17-year-old from Wakefield at the national 2026 WellChild Awards
A 17-year-old from Wakefield will be congratulated by Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, next week for winning the prestigious 2026 WellChild Awards.
Now in their 21st year, the awards, run by national children’s charity WellChild, celebrate the inspiring qualities of the UK’s seriously ill children and young people, alongside the parents, carers and professionals who go above and beyond to support them.
Rosanna Cornforth-Revill, was nominated by her mum, Justine Cornforth and was chosen from hundreds of nominations from across the UK,
Rosanna will be awarded the Inspirational Young Person Award, recognising the extraordinary courage, determination and positivity she has shown while living with serious illness.

Rosanna lives with multiple complex health conditions, including autism, ADHD, Type 1 diabetes, coeliac disease and Irlen's Syndrome.
Managing her health requires constant attention, from insulin pump changes and continuous glucose monitoring to strict dietary control, often disrupting her sleep and daily routine.
She also experiences significant sensory challenges and social anxiety, making busy environments, school and everyday interactions particularly difficult.
Despite this, Rosanna has achieved outstanding academic success while showing remarkable resilience and determination.
Drawing on her own experiences, Rosanna has become a passionate advocate for children and young people with additional needs.
Even though she finds noise, crowds and unfamiliar places overwhelming, she frequently travels independently to London in her various roles representing organisations and charities and as a Children's Commissioner Ambassador, helping to shape national discussions on Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), children's rights and other important issues.
She has also worked to ensure the voices of disabled children and young people are heard by decision-makers.
The judges were inspired by Rosanna's courage, compassion and commitment to creating a more inclusive future for others, making her a truly deserving WellChild Award winner.
Mum, Justine, said: “Rosanna is amazing - a wonderful daughter and fantastic big sister to Toby.
"She excels academically whilst tirelessly advocating for children’s rights for those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities and those in the family court system.
"She does all this whilst studying for her A-levels and managing her own needs, which are far more complex than many people realise.
"This award is so well deserved and I am delighted that everything she does has been recognised.”
Rosanna will receive her award at a special ceremony in London on September 21, where she will meet WellChild Patron, Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, during a private reception ahead of the awards.
Matt James, Chief Executive of WellChild, said: “Every year we are humbled by the extraordinary people recognised through the WellChild Awards.
"Their stories remind us that courage is found in many different forms – from children facing life with serious illness, to parents, siblings and professionals who go above and beyond every single day.
“As more families across the UK care for children with increasingly complex medical needs at home, these awards celebrate not only remarkable individuals, but the compassion, dedication of extraordinary people that help make those journeys possible.
"Through the WellChild Awards 2026, in association with GSK we are delighted to recognise Rosanna as one of this year’s deserving winners.”
