Wakefield band Redline celebrate Battle of the Bands success and new music
A young Wakefield indie band are celebrating a busy run of performances, reaching the semi-finals of a Battle of the Bands competition and the release of two original songs.
Redline, the four-piece made up of 18-year-olds Alex Hemingway, Noah Jennett, Alexander Blundell and Matthew Barnes, also performed at the Merrie Festival at Trinity Walk.
Lead singer and songwriter Alex Hemingway said: "As a band we will keep driving forward, with a vision of playing huge arenas one day with our own original music and we want to thank everyone who is joining our journey along the way."
It comes after a busy few weeks for Redline, who recently opened the Clarence Park Festival in Wakefield before performing at Tutinbury Festival in Thurnscoe and making their debut radio appearance on Rhubarb Radio in Wakefield.

The band headlined the Rise Festival at Monk Bretton Priory in Barnsley, organised by Jolly Good Communities, before performing at the Jam Lounge in Wakefield the following evening.
Redline also reached the semi-finals of the 2026 Battle of the Bands competition at the Imperial Music Venue in Mexborough.
Their band manager said: "Being in the Battle of the Bands Competition 2026 has meant so much to the whole band and qualifying as semi-finalists is a huge achievement that they are extremely proud of."
The latest achievement comes as the four musicians continue to develop their own material.
Redline now have two original songs available on major streaming platforms – UnMe and It's Coming Home to You – with the band planning to release an EP this autumn.
