Wakefield Hospice postpones 10K run due to coronavirus fears

Wakefield Hospice has postponed its upcoming 10K run, it's been announced.

The run , which attracts thousands of runners and spectators each year, was due to take place on Sunday, March 29.

But this afternoon, the hospice has announced they are postponing the event because of the coronavirus pandemic.

LIVE updates of all the latest news and advice from across the Wakefield district.The Director of Income Generation for the hospice, Helen Knowles, said: "It has been a difficult decision but after considerable advice from Public Health England and the Government, Wakefield Hospice will be postponing the forthcoming 10k on Sunday 29th March.

"The health & safety of our runners, volunteers and staff will always be our priority and we will not compromise the public wellbeing."

Second coronavirus case confirmed in WakefieldThe new date for the 10K run will be Sunday, September 20.

If you are able to take part in this new date, the hospice will be in touch within the next two weeks.
