Townville beat 2025 winners to become T20 Blast champions again
Townville came up with two superb performances to win the Bentley Blast T20 Group A Cup for the third time in four years.
The Castleford-based team successfully chased down Bradford & Bingley’s 154 score in the semi-finals then were too strong for reigning champions New Farnley in the final played in front of a big crowd at Ossett.
Townville’s day started well when they timed their run chase well to get home with three wickets to spare after semi-final opponents Bradford & Bingley had made 154-4 in their 20 overs.
A century partnership involving Joe Pyrah (52) and Jacob Slator (49) laid the platform for a bigger total, but Townville's bowlers managed to keep things under control, with Jack Hughes taking 1-18 from his four overs and the other wicket takers being Sanoj Darshika (1-25) and Matthew Race (1-36).

Townville's reply saw a team effort get them over the line as Hughes top scored with 39 from 31 balls, Liam Collins added an aggressive 29, Abdul Wahid made 23, and Kieran Collins 19.
Townville elected to bat first in the final and it paid off as they posted a challenging 179-4 total and went on to win by 53 runs.
Kieran Collins led the way with a superb innings of 71 from 52 balls as he smacked four sixes and six fours after coming at number four.
Hughes was in great form again as he provided support with an unbeaten 42 from 27 balls and their fourth-wicket partnership of 110 proved to be match-winning.
Matthew Race (24) and Abdul Wahid (15) had made useful starts, but Townville had been reduced to 67-3 before Collins and Hughes came together.
New Farnley’s reply started well enough as Fletcher Coutts (39) and Aidan Langley (19) helped them reach 51-1 in the seventh over, but with wickets then going down at regular intervals they began to fall behind the asking rate.
In the hunt for faster runs more men were out and they were eventually all out for 126 in the 19th over.
Townville's attack was wel led by Jack Hughes who capped his outstanding day with superb figures again, taking 3-17 from 3.2 overs.
Tom Chippendale (2-26), Mathew Lumb (2-32), Anoj Darshika (2-23) and Race (1-23) were the other wicket takers.
Townville skipper Lumb was presented with the Bentley Blast T20 Group A trophy after his side had shown their all-round ability in two high class displays and they will now go on to represent the Bradford League in the Vitality Club T20, hoping to emulate New Farnley who won the competition last season.
