New businesses to showcase their products at Castleford Indoor Market

New and aspiring businesses will be given the chance to showcase their products to shoppers at a special event at Castleford Indoor Market later this month.

Wakefield Council is welcoming new traders to the market on Saturday, November 21, with the event running from 9am to 3pm.

The New Trader Market is designed to give entrepreneurs an opportunity to test their ideas, meet new customers and potentially establish themselves within the local market.

The event will also form part of the market’s Christmas Market celebrations, as traders prepare for the busy festive shopping period.

Coun Andrew Wakefield, Wakefield Council’s Cabinet Member for Strategic Housing, Skills and Business Growth, said the event would showcase the entrepreneurial talent across the district.

“We’re pleased to be showcasing more of the fantastic entrepreneurs we’ve got in our area.

“Small businesses are the backbone of our local economy. We’re putting more support in place to create the conditions for new businesses to meet new customers.

“Events like these are important to support the continued success of Castleford Market and the great established traders that already operate there.”

He added: “We hope local shoppers will visit our district markets, and shop as locally as possible, in the run-up to the important Christmas trading period.”

Wakefield Council has announced a further programme of New Trader Markets at Castleford, giving aspiring entrepreneurs more opportunities to get involved.

The planned dates are:

Saturday, November 21, 2026 – Christmas Market

Saturday, January 30, 2027 – Beat the January Blues
