Castleford Tigers prepare to show off new 3G pitch at OneBore Stadium
Castleford Tigers have announced plans for a bank holiday open day at their OneBore Stadium when the new state of the art training pitch will be officially unveiled.
The completely free event will see the ribbon officially cut on the club’s new 3G pitch on Sunday, May 24.
And at the event that starts from 11.30am the Tigers are encouraging youngsters from the area to bring a ball down and enjoy the new pitches too.
There will be coaches on hand to help co-ordinate games and there will be more fun to be had with the Legends Bars open, music on the club’s new stage in the FanZone and screening of the action from the final day of the Premier League football season.
“The aim of creating the FanZone, building the 3G and improving a lot of the facilities has been to create a community hub and give back to the people in this region who have remained loyal to our club for the past 100 years,” said Tigers chief executive Danny Wilson.
"This latest event will give everyone a chance to come down on a non-match day, enjoy the venue and help us showcase the all-new 3G pitch too.”
The Tigers have also announced another initiative with RugBees their dedicated girls rugby pathway, created to give primary aged players the chance to learn new skills, grow in confidence and discover how exciting rugby league can be.
Designed specifically for girls aged 7-11, the programme blends movement, teamwork and game based learning in a warm, supportive environment.
For many young girls, opportunities to play rugby have traditionally been limited and RugBees is aiming to change that by creating a space where girls feel they belong in sport and where every player is encouraged to thrive.
All abilities are welcome. For more details, visit the Tigers website and to sign up go to https://app.upshot.org.uk/signup/7a237d4c/08e8cc0a8aaa0d99/
