The darts boom among junior players since the emergence of teenage world champion Luke Littler has spread to Wakefield with a thriving centre aiming to discover the talented throwers of the future.

The Wakefield Junior Darts Centre – based on the first floor, 68-72 Horbury Road – is for junior players aged seven to 17 with sessions on Thursdays, 5-6pm and 6-7pm and Saturdays 12.30-1.30pm.

It opened in June 2024 and has gone from strength to strength with eight top boards, regular competitions and fun games.

Since the opening launch the centre steadily increased members before really swelling in numbers after Luke ‘The Nuke’ Littler won the world title in January.

They currently boast just under 40 members which consist of players of all abilities.

The centre has recently become the first in West Yorkshire to be sponsored by Target Darts – the company that backs Littler, brilliant young Yorkshire women’s player Beau Greaves and world ranked Nathan Aspinall among many others.

Players of all abilities and experience are welcome and the centre is looking to grow membership further with anyone interested able to contact them on Facebook, email at [email protected] or by ringing 07909 752798.

“We are so proud to be able to offer the youth of Wakefield seven to 17 this fantastic opportunity to be part of the world's leading darts company and all the fantastic opportunities they offer,” said Ian Banks, who runs the centre.

"We are the first and only junior academy in Wakefield. Why not come down and join us and have a go?

"WJD is the place to be and maybe you can someday be the next Luke Littler or Beau Greaves.”
