The Lions, who were 14-10 ahead at the interval, closed with a Kieran Redfearn brace and tries for Prashant Veerasamy, Davi Garahan, Chris Bingham, Harley Axe and Tom Millard, four of which Tom Wandless improved.

Skirlaugh had to settle for touchdowns by Nathan Slater, Josh Oliver, Calvin Parker and Travis O’Loughlin, plus a couple of Ben Newton conversions.

The result saw the Featherstone side climb to eighth place in the division and they are now within five points of third-placed Oulton Raiders with two games in hand on them.

It has been some turn around from a difficult start to the season and the Lions will be looking to continue their good work when away this Saturday to West Bowling who are one place and point above them.

Lock Lane were without a game in the Premier Division last weekend, but return to action this Saturday, away to Paul McShane’s Hunslet Club Parkside.

With both teams locked on 20 points from 14 matches and the Castleford side just ahead on points difference a titanic tussle can be expected with third place and possibly second at stake between two in-form teams hoping to have benefitted from a rest week.
