Wakefield charity secures D-Day Darlings for royal ball

A Wakefield charity has secured a performance from Britain's Got Talent stars the D-Day Darlings for its flagship fundraising ball.

Second Chance Headway, which supports people living with acquired brain injuries across West Yorkshire, has announced the group will headline its Annual Royal Ball on Thursday, May 27 next year, at The Queens Hotel in Leeds.

The event, which will have a royal theme, brings together businesses and supporters to raise vital funds for the charity's rehabilitation, advice and support services.

Led by Wakefield singer Katie Ashby, the D-Day Darlings rose to national fame after reaching the final of Britain's Got Talent in 2018.

Since then, the group has become the best-selling female group to emerge from the ITV talent show, signing with Sony Music UK and performing at the Royal Albert Hall, national commemorative events and for members of the Royal Family.

Nathan Garbutt-Moore, chief executive of Second Chance Headway, said: "We are absolutely delighted to welcome the D-Day Darlings to our Annual Royal Ball. They are an exceptional group whose performances capture the spirit of resilience, hope and community – values that closely reflect our own charity.

"This promises to be a truly memorable evening while raising much-needed funds to support people living with brain injury across West Yorkshire."

Guests are invited to enjoy an evening inspired by royal occasions while helping to ensure people affected by acquired brain injury and their families can continue to access specialist support.

Tickets are now on sale. Organisers encouraged supporters to book early.
