Wakefield’s Bronwyn James stars alongside Ariana Grande in the highly anticipated adaptation of the popular stage musical 'Wicked', which debuts in cinemas next week.

The first installment of the two-part film version, featuring the Wakefield actress, drops in cinemas across the district next week, on November 22.

Former CAPA College student, Bronwyn, 30, was cast in the film alongside Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo in 2022.

Based on the hit Broadway musical, “Wicked”, directed by Jon M. Chu, follows Galinda (Grande) and Elphaba (Erivo) - two witches and their unlikely friendship in the magical land of Oz.

Bronwyn will star as a character named ‘ShenShen’ – who is described as one of Galinda's college friends.

The hugely successful actress is one of many talented alumni who have studied and trained at the prestigious CAPA College, in Wakefield centre.

When Bronwyn was first cast in the film, Principal of CAPA College, Claire Nicholson, shared her support for the talented actress.

Wicked isn’t the only major movie adaptation Bronwyn is currently attached to.

Earlier this year, it was also revealed she had been cast as “Ruffnut” in the new live action “How to Train Your Dragon”, which is set to hit theaters on June 13, 2025.
