Have your say on plans for former Harratts showroom in Pontefract
Members of the public can still comment on a planning application to convert a former car showroom in Pontefract into units including a drive-through coffee shop or hot food takeaway.
The former Harratts car showroom at the junction of Front Street and Halfpenny Lane has stood empty for more than two years.
DK Commercial Properties is seeking to create a mixed use retail led development at the site with a drive through coffee shop or hot food takeaway with parking.
The Wakefield Express first reported on the plans after they were submitted to Wakefield Council in October 2024.

A Wakefield Council spokesperson said last week: “The planning application is still under consideration.
"The applicant has asked for more time to give them chance to address technical issues.”
There have been 66 comments from members of the public objecting to the scheme and 12 comments from people supporting it.
One objector to the scheme wrote: "Having an entrance and exit through Halfpenny Lane will worsen the already awful transit times in that road.
"It would be very detrimental to neighbours and to the hundreds of families that attend Halfpenny Lane School. Please do not allow this without an extensive research process and infrastructure improvement."
Another objector wrote: "The traffic situation in this area is bad enough without adding to it and do we actually need another coffee/ food outlet outside of the town centre – don't take anymore business away from the town centre please."
One comment in support of the application states: "Fantastic idea, building is currently an eyesore. Only drive-through facility in area is currently McDonald's so more choice would be fantastic.
"Traffic control would need to be considered, might be better to have entry/exit one way system utilising the traffic lights to the left of the building."
