New faces, big plans: Meet the landlords breathing new life into The Kettlethorpe pub
A much-loved Kettlethorpe pub is set for a fresh new chapter after new owners revealed plans to introduce food, host themed events and create Kettlethorpe Fest.
Landlord Reece Marlow and partner Troy Moxon took over the pub on Deffer Road in August, marking the occasion with a family-friendly open day which attracted hundreds of people.

Now, the Horbury couple are looking to build on that success with a packed programme of events and improvements.
“One of the big plans we have is to introduce food,” Reece said.

“We’re hoping to have special menu nights, such as tapas, as well as other big events and themed nights.
“We’re also planning on organising Kettlethorpe Fest at the pub next year and creating a children’s play area in the huge beer garden.”
Reece and Troy have already carried out a number of ‘bits and bobs’ to put their own stamp on the pub, with further refurbishments planned.
But one of their biggest challenges is simply getting people through the door.
“With the pub being one of the last ‘estate pubs’, we’re hidden away, so we don’t get much passing traffic,” Reece said.
“We just want to spread the word that we’re here!
“Whether you’ve been coming in for years, you’re a regular, or you’re completely new to us, please come over and say hello,” he said.
“We want this to be a proper community pub where everyone feels welcome, has a laugh and enjoys coming through the doors.”
