Arrest made following reports of man acting suspiciously around children in Normanton
Police have arrested a man following an incident in a park in Normanton last night (June 30 ) where a man was reported to be acting suspiciously around children.
Officers received a report from a concerned parent that a man was acting suspiciously in a sexual manner close to a group of teenagers in the town's Haw Hill Park, off Castleford Road.
The incident is reported to have taken place between 5.15pm and 7pm and was reported to police later in the evening.
A man aged in his 40s has since been arrested on suspicion of outraging public decency and taken into custody.
Inspector Andrew Dickinson said: "This was understandably a concerning matter and I can confirm we have arrested a man and taken him into custody this morning where he will be questioned.
"We're still piecing together exactly what happened and so we're keen to hear from anyone who was in or around the park at that time who may have seen what took place.
"We are stepping up patrols in the area and I am keen for anyone who has information, or video footage, that can assist our officers with this investigation to please get in contact."
