Road closure and temporary lights as gas works begin in Wakefield
A main road in Wakefield will be hit with temporary lights and closures while gas works are carried out.
Northern Gas Networks (NGN) is carrying out essential work on Aberford Road to replace ageing metal pipework with new, more durable plastic pipes.
The project, which has been planned in collaboration with Wakefield Council, will begin on October 19 and is expected to be completed by the end of October.
So that engineers can carry out the work safely and efficiently, and to protect members of the public, some traffic management measures will be put in place.

From Monday, October 19 there will be three-way temporary traffic lights on Aberford Road, at the junction of Barnstone Vale.
These will be in place for around one week.
From Monday, October 19 there will be a lane closure on Barnstone Vale, at the junction of Aberford Road, which will be in place for around two weeks.

Chris Reed, Central Business Operations Lead for Northern Gas Networks, said: “We would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused during these essential works.
However, it’s vital we complete them in order to continue to maintain a safe and reliable gas supply to homes and businesses in Wakefield.”
