Man suffered life threatening injuries in Featherstone moped crash

A moped rider suffered life-threatnening injuries after crashing into a roundabout in Featherstone.

The rider, a 26-year-old local man, was travelling along Green Lane towards the junction with Commonside Lane, when he failed to negotiate a roundabout and collided with it.

The collision occured at around 10.30pm last night (Friday, August 15).

He suffered life threatening injuries to his head and body and was taken to Leeds General Infirmary.

A police spokesman said the man’s condition today was described as “critical but stable.”

PC James Farrar, of safer roads and neighbourhood support, said: “Enquiries are ongoing into this incident and I would like to speak with anyone who saw the collision or the manner in which the moped was being ridden.

“Anyone who has information should contact myself, PC 3572 James Farrar, on 101.”
