Featherstone dancers launch £25,000 fundraising drive for Miami performance

A group of young dancers from Featherstone have launched a £25,000 fundraising appeal after securing the chance to perform at a major international event in Miami.

Members of the Featherstone Rovers Foundation All Star Dance Academy have been invited to take part in Dance Miami ’26, an international performance project.

Dancers from the UK and United States will come together for the mass performance at Hard Rock Stadium, home of the Miami Dolphins, during an NFL game.

The group must now raise £25,000 to cover travel, accommodation and participation costs ahead of the trip, which is scheduled for October.

Head coach Morgan Binnersley said: "Taking our dancers from Featherstone to perform at the Miami Hard Rock Stadium is an absolute dream come true.

"Seeing our hometown talent prepare to step onto a world-famous global stage fills me with undeniable pride.

"This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity isn't just a trip –it is a lifeline that will put our academy back on the map."

Dancer Emi Watson said: "Performing in Miami is an incredible opportunity for me. Coming from Featherstone, opportunities like this don’t happen every day, so I’m proud to represent my town and show what young people from our community can achieve.

"I’m excited to learn from the experience, meet new people, and create memories that will stay with me for the rest of my life."

Dancer Ellie Ruckledge said: "Dancing in Miami will be the peak of my nineteen year dance career. It’sabout proving that what i’ve learnt all these years has built to this and that anything is possible.”

The fundraising campaign has only just begun, with organisers appealing for support from local residents, businesses and organisations to help make the opportunity possible.

The academy is part of Featherstone Rovers Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation delivering health, education, wellbeing and inclusion programmes across the Wakefield district.

The All Star squad are now continuing their fundraising efforts over the coming months, with a range of community events and sponsorship opportunities planned to help reach their target.

Featherstone Rovers are enduring a difficult season after it’s men’s rugby team were barred from competing in the Championship this season after entering administration in December amid mounting debts.
