Hospice’s annual appeal raises more than £15,000 in just seven days!

Wakefield Hospice’s ‘Perfect Place’ appeal raised an incredible £15,662 over just seven days as part of the Big Give Christmas Challenge.

The ‘Perfect Place appeal’ was part of this year’s Big Give Christmas Challenge, an annual nationwide campaign which sees donations doubled at no extra cost to the donor, thanks to our pledgers and match-funders.

Wakefield Hospice named their appeal the ‘Perfect Place’ after Luke used these words to describe the hospice, and how it became The Perfect Place for him and his partner, Laura.

Laura was aged just 36 when she passed away at Wakefield Hospice in 2024 surrounded by her family, Luke and best friend Claire.

Luke shared Laura’s story, their experience and how Wakefield Hospice were able to provide comfort and care to Laura and her family.

The hospice is still aiming to raise a total of £20,000 to support patients and their families this winter.

Charlotte Barker Individual Giving Fundraiser at Wakefield Hospice said: “We are so grateful to each and every person who has donated to the Perfect Place appeal, helping us to reach over £15,000 in just one week, whether sharing our posts across social media or making a donation your support has helped us to continue being here for the next Laura.

“We would also like to say a big thank you to our pledgers and match-funders for their support, and a very special thank you to Luke and Laura’s family, the inspiration behind the Perfect Place appeal – the reason why so many people were inspired to get involved.
