Children came from across the district to take part in a talent show by one of the UK’s leading children’s international performing art schools, Make Believe, on Saturday.

Dozens of children took part in the talent show to showcase their talents and potentially win a part of £1,000 cash prize and the opportunity to join the MB Talent platform.

Launched in 2017, One Dream helps to discover talent in children and provide them with an outlet to use energy and hone interpersonal and life skills, such as confidence and communication.

By teaming up with shopping centres, hundreds of children are able to register to audition at each One Dream event and showcase their best talents for a chance of winning the cash prize and the possibility of a scholarship to a Make Believe performing arts school and representation on their books.

The finalists are set to compete for the crown and £500 each at the famous Theatre Royal Wakefield on October 2.

“So many people came to watch their kids sing their way to the finals and what a final it’s going to be.

“Well done to everyone that took part, everyone should be proud. Wakefield certainly shined!"

Lucy Grice, marketing manager of Trinity Walk, said: "It was a great atmosphere and I personally was blown away by so much of the talent on stage.

“More than once we saw a fairly young child quietly walk onto stage and then absolutely belt out an amazing performance, which was wonderful to see.

"Most importantly, it seemed like everyone really enjoyed the day and the opportunity to showcase their talents in a great setting.

“Best of luck to everyone on the next step of their journeys and thanks to everyone who came.

Previous winners have gone on to become stars, with 2018 finalist Klaudia Gjergji starring in West End production ‘On Your Feet’ this year, and 2017 winner Charis Tetteh taking a role in ‘School of Rock’ since last year.
