Storm Boelo: Yellow weather warning issued across Wakefield, Pontefract and Castleford

Storm Boelo will bring a very windy and wet spell this weekend with some disruption likely across Wakefield.

A yellow weather warning for wind is in place from midday on Saturday (October 24) until 9pm on Sunday (October 25).

The Met Office has warned that the storm will bring strong winds that will spread across West Yorkshire during Saturday afternoon, combining with spells of heavy rain.

Very windy conditions will then persist overnight and through much of Sunday before gradually easing from the southwest later.

The storm may cause some damage to buildings and trees, with disruption to public transport also expected.

Power cuts may also occur.

The Met Office's deputy chief forecaster, Mark Sidaway, said: “Saturday morning will start dry and bright in the east of the UK; however, further west rain and increasingly windy conditions will already be set in as people wake up for the day.

"This stormy weather will continue to move eastwards bringing rain and windy conditions to all of the UK.

“People should prepare by securing loose items outside their property, being ready in case of power outages and being aware of likely travel disruption.”
