Great Preston and Streethouse end campaign on losing note

After looking good for much of the season Great Preston’s season has ended disappointingly in Division Two of the Bradford Cricket League.

Top of the table for much of the first half of the campaign, they dropped out of the promotion places in the closing weeks and ended in fifth spot after a three-wicket defeat to third-placed Hartshead Moor in their final match

Lewis Lomax produced an outstanding individual bowling performance to set up his side’s victory as he took 6-73 with Great Preston dismissed for 188.

James Conlon top scored with 45 while Sohail Ahmed hit 27, Willem Meintjes 26 and Moosa Azad 22.

Hartshead’s response was built around a 97-run second-wicket partnership between Chris Wynd and Hasnat Yousaf. Yousaf struck 61 from 50 balls, including four sixes, while Wynd made 62 from 94.

A late wobble gave Great Preston some hope, Jack McGahan taking 3-10, but Hartshead reached 192-7 in 34.3 overs.

Streethouse were unable to prevent Bowling Old Lane from being crowned Division Two champions as they lost to them by 104 runs.

The table toppers raced to 284-6 in a rain reduced 32-over contest before dismissing their visitors for 180.

Mehrban Khan smashed 118 from 88 balls for Old Lane and shared a 148-run second-wicket partnership with Fawad Maqsood (66).

Streethouse never seriously threatened their big target despite 44 from Lee Tarbuck, 39 by Jason Holmes and 36 from Ismail Patel.
