NCEL round-up: Late goals deny victory for Kinsley Boys' young line-up

Kinsley Boys let a two-goal slip late on as they had to settle for a point from their NCE Division One game at LIV.

The league newcomers were looking set for a fourth win since stepping up to this level and third on their travels when they led 2-0 at half-time following goals by Jack White and Harry Kitching.

They were good value for the lead despite fielding a young side with several regulars missing and held it going into the last 10 minutes only for their hosts to produce a big finish.

Victory Ojei gave LIV hope as he pulled a goal back seven minutes from time and Kinsley could not quite hold on with Taylor Adams equalising in the 90th minute.

Kinsley are back in action at home to South Leeds on Tuesday before they travel to Doncaster City on Saturday.

A disappointing second half display saw Hemsworth MW lose their NCE Division One game 4-1 at Crowle Colts.

Crowle were ahead from the eighth minute as Carlo Midwinter netted, but Wells stayed in the contest and were level when Ash Bell put away a penalty.

It was still 1-1 at the break only for the home team to take charge with two goals in the first three minutes of the second half.

Atley Jackson struck twice and suddenly the visitors were up against it.

They kept battling, but Crowle netted again late on through Alfie Fudge.

Hemsworth will aim to dust themselves down as they next face fourth-placed Wombwell Town away on Saturday and they are also in action at Selby Town in a second round League Cup tie next Tuesday.

Frickley Athletic’s tough run continued as they were thrashed 9-0 at FC St Helens in their FA Vase second qualifying round tie.

They were four down by half-time and it got worse after the break with Joshua Briggs leading the St Helens scoring with four of the goals.

After the team’s performance the club have offered every supporter who travelled to St Helens a free drink at the next home game.

A statement said: “As a club we won’t accept results like this and offer our apologies to everyone who had to witness it.

The Blues will now have to pick themselves up for a Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup tie this Saturday when they travel to play AFC Bentley. They also travel to Keighley Town for a League Cup second round match the following Wednesday.
