Two Wakefield drug drivers arrested during first week of police's Drink Drug Drive Operation
A total of 64 arrests have been made during the first week of West Yorkshire Police’s festive operation targeting drink and drug driving in the region.
The operation, which launched on Monday, December 1, aims to target drink and drug driving within Wakefield and throughout West Yorkshire.

Among those arrested so far was a man who blew more than five times the drink drive limit after coming to a stop in a live lane of the M62.
Within Wakefield, two suspected drug drivers were arrested within half an hour of each other during a static roadside operation.

This included a man who drove into the police checkpoint then decided to try and drive back out again, which sparked a short pursuit.
A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: “Throughout December we’re stepping up proactive patrols and educating drivers about the consequences of getting behind the wheel whilst under the influence.”
