Wakefield Mayor to take the plunge in Cathedral charity abseil
The Mayor of Wakefield will scale new heights tomorrow (Saturday) taking part in The Big Charity Abseil at Wakefield Cathedral.
Coun Brian Moorhouse will be abseiling down the iconic 164-foot cathedral tower in aid of his chosen charity – Stepping Stones Baby Bank, a non-profit organisation that aims to support families in Ossett, Horbury and surrounding areas with baby essentials to ensure that no child goes without.
Coun Moorhouse said: “I’m really looking forward to the challenge of The Big Charity Abseil.
“It’s a fantastic way to bring people together to raise money for some really important charities while creating memories that will last a lifetime.”

People will be abseiling from the tower platform of Wakefield Cathedral to the ground - 164 ft high, or 50 metres.
Access to the tower platform will be via 170 internal narrow medieval stone spiral stairs.
There’s still time to sign up and take part in The Big Charity Abseil. Find out more at The Big Charity Abseil - Wakefield Cathedral
