Nostell Priory to introduce new ANPR car parking system this weekend

Visitors to Nostell Priory will experience an updated parking process beginning this weekend.

Plans to install automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) cameras at Nostell Priory were given the green light earlier this year.

Now, the Wakefield attraction has announced that the new system will begin operating today (November 6).

The registered park and garden is operated by the National Trust and is close to the Grade I-listed priory.

It is not the only National Trust site to undergo a change, with many of its estates and car parks rolling out automated number plate recognition (ANPR) camera systems and ticketless parking.

The new technology is designed to streamline entry and exit, support conservation funding and replace the old “out-of-date” systems.

Furthermore, it also aims to simplify the parking process for visitors.

Drivers will enter their vehicle registration number upon arrival and then pay via cash or card at the terminal when they leave.

Parking charges will be set at £5 per car for non-members, while National Trust members can continue to park free of charge.
