Staying out for the Clarence Park Festival

That’s the message from the organisers of the festival, which will also include performances from King Canute, and Irish band The Lagan.

Rachel Winstanley, of Wakefield Music Collective, said: “We’re all very excited and think it’s brilliant that we have a named band like Dodgy playing on our famous bandstand stage.

“If Clarence Park is good enough for them, it’s good enough for me - and for everyone who we’re inviting to enjoy a great weekend.”

The free event will also feature craft and food stalls, a bar and DJ performances throughout the day.

The collective is aiming for a family-friendly festival.

Ms Winstanley added: “We need to say thank you to our funders, sponsors, vendors and supporters who have helped fund the festival this year.”

Saturday’s lineup includes performances by Dodgy, Rory Hoy, Vienna Ditto, Auction For The Promise Club, The Repeat Offenders, White Pigeon, Antonio Lulic, The Darlingtons, Lauren Housley Band, The Kingcrows, Jacobean Ruff and The Albion Codex.

Sunday’s performers include The Lagan, King Canute, Raptusound, Hemingway, The Majestic, J The Ex, Famous Villains, Eva Abraham, Never A Hero, Archean Soundtrack, and The Michael Ainsley Band.

Local DJs Miss B, Miss Chief and DJ Woody will perform to keep the vibe going between the acts.

More than 500 bands applied to perform at this year’s festival.

There are free parking spaces on the grass just off Lawefield Lane.

And Arriva services 128, 436, 443, 444 and 446 all pass the festival site on Denby Dale Road, Wakefield.

It will take place on Saturday and Sunday, from noon until 8pm.
