Rehman’s century helps East Ardsley beat neighbours to go into top three

A superb century from Abdul Rehman helped East Ardsley to defeat neighbours Wrenthorpe in a high scoring Division Three game in the Bradford Cricket League.

In a game in which almost 560 runs were amassed it was Ardsley who emerged victorious by 97 runs to climb up into third place with games in hand on the teams above them.

Rehman led the way as they responded to being put in by piling up a big 328-9 score. He came up with a magnificent 115, including 20 fours and a six, and combined with Shahzad Iqbal in a second-wicket stand of 173. The latter hit 11 fours and two sixes in his 78.

Michael Davies also contributed 39 from 33 balls while Patrick Forrest (5-77) tried his best to restrict the free flowing batsmen.

Forrest followed up by making 39 runs in Wrenthorpe’s reply while Alfie Holden hit 62 and Shahzaib Sayeed 59 not out. However, Iqbal completed a fine display by taking 5-57 and with Hassaan Mohammad also claiming 3-28 the visitors were all out for 231.

An unbeaten century from Kevin McDermott helped Carlton to an important win in their fight to stay in the Premier Division.

A nine-wicket success lifted the team out of the bottom two to ninth spot and came thanks to an impressive run chase after opponents Pudsey Congs posted a 225-6 score.

McDermott led the way with an unbeaten 117 made from 111 deliveries and including 19 fours and a six.

He found great support from Dan White, who cracked 12 boundaries in his 78 not out, and the pair put on 164 in an unbroken second wicket stand.

In Pudsey’s innings Hassan Butt hit 106, but Farukh Alam (3-43) ensured some control.

A high scoring thriller at Barnsley Road saw Sandal’s big 291-8 total chased down by Crossflatts, who won the Division One contest by three wickets.

It all came down to the final ball, but skipper Dominic Bennett hit a four from it to leave the home team on the wrong end of the result.

Sasindu Malshan starred with 84 as he hit 13 fours and a six, while Sohail Hussain made 52, Jonathan Boynton smashed a rapid 50 from only 22 balls and Sam Noden 28no off 10 deliveries for Sandal.

However, Crossflatts responded well as Josh Brooksbank blasted 105 and Azhar Mehmood added 96 in an opening stand of 208. Although Sandal fought back with four quick wickets, Crossflatts were able to squeeze home.

Ossett were back to winning ways with a two-wicket success against Lightcliffe who posted 235-9 despite Callum Geldart’s 3-52 and Janaid Tanwir’s 3-60.

The winning reply featured 56 from Iqbal Khan, 37 from Geldart, 36 by Saminda Ganwarige and 35 by Josh Wild as the target was reached with 3.1 overs to spare.

Altofts defeated neighbours Streethouse by eight wickets in Division Two.

Streethouse's total of 159 owed much to Zamurad Khan's aggressive 62, but Saif Tahir restricted them with 6-32 and Shamsullah Dost claimed 3-28.

Altofts made light work of the chase as Andrew Wood anchored the innings with an unbeaten 68, victory being secured with more than 18 overs remaining.
