Sharlston Rovers youngsters make it a double triumph with Challenge Cup victory
Sharlston Rovers U12s have been able to celebrate double success after winning their second final of the year.
The Rovers youngsters took on Elland in the Yorkshire Challenge Cup final, played at Batley Bulldogs’ Fox’s Biscuits Stadium and came up with a commanding performance to run out victors.
Sharlston illustrated their all-round ability as they crossed their opponents’ line a number of times while their own was never breached in a 28-0 success.
As the final whistle went the boys celebrated and in that moment every early morning, every training session, every sacrifice, every setback and every ounce of hard work suddenly became worth it.
It was the team’s second final triumph of 2026 and once again they delivered with tries scored by Archie Myers, Thomas Marsden and Koby Atkinson.
And after leading his team out as captain and putting in an incredible performance Archie came away with the man of the match trophy.
"What a moment, what an achievement and what a way to lead your team in a Challenge Cup final,” said team manager Tara McKeith.
"But this is bigger than any one player. These boys have stood together all season. They’ve pushed each other, believed in each other and fought for each other – and that bond has taken them all the way to two finals, two incredible performances and another trophy.
"And maybe the best part? They’re still undefeated.
"Two finals down and hopefully one more final to go, with the chance to finish this unbelievable season at the home of Castleford Tigers.
"Whatever happens next, these boys have already created memories that will last a lifetime. But knowing this group they’re not finished yet. One more push. One more battle. One more chance to make history.
"We’re so incredibly proud of every single one of these boys. What a team, what a journey, what a season.”
