Pontefract Pride: Popular pub to host annual celebration next weekend

Pontefract Pride will return next weekend, with all funds raised being donated to Macmillan.

Since launching in 2023, the celebration has become a district staple – with The Carleton pub at the helm.

This year, the special event will once again take place at the pub, on Hardwick Road, on Saturday, June 20.

Visitors can expect a variety of live entertainment including solo artists, dancers, tribute acts, choirs and a magic show.

General manager of The Carleton, Jodie Hughes, said: “I can’t believe it’s two weeks away! We are so excited!

"This year, our outside stage back and have a big variety of entertainment for everyone to enjoy.

"Of course the whole weekend is to help raise money for MacMillan and this year we will also be raising money for another charity called Switchboard.”

The pub’s annual dog show will then take place the following day, on Sunday, June 21.

The event will feature stalls from local businesses, and demonstrations from a local dog trainer.
